Juan Darién, A Carnival Mass was written by Julie Taymor and Elliot Goldenthal, based on a short story by Horacio Quiroga.
Directed by Julie Taymor.
Originally premiered at St. Clement’s Church, NY, 1988 and later toured internationally in Edinburgh, Lille, Montreal, Jerusalem, and San Francisco, 1990-91. The musical later had its Broadway debut in 1996 at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre.
